Last week I was a volunteer at the Energy Services Summit (ESS) and was very impressed with the vast array of relevant energy topics covered by world-class keynote speakers. The industry’s top experts, producers, and service providers discussed current projects, new investment opportunities, and the changing direction of the industry. This program is designed to help energy producers and suppliers engage in conversation and build working relationships for the future.
Three key-note sessions stuck out in my mind. The first was with His Excellency Smail Benamara, Ambassador of Algeria to Canada, when he discussed energy opportunities between Canada and the middle-east. The second was with Danielle Smith, Leader of The Wildrose Alliance Party of Alberta, when she presented the Alberta Energy Outlook. The third was when John Pearce, CEO of Grizzly Oilsands, discussed the Evolving Oilsands Landscape. I witnessed the presentation of many execution plans for several large-scale oilsands investment projects, which will continue to support our local and provincial economies.
I was honored to be this year’s session host for the Report on the Economic Contribution of the Oil and gas Services Sector to the Canadian Economy, presented by Mark Salkeld, President and CEO of Petroleum Services Association of Canada.
Why did we go?
Because the ENGINE stays plugged into the heart beat of the energy economy so we can deliver the timeliest and most important information on energy trends and current events directly to our business customers. “Michael realizes the importance of giving back to the community and investing in the future of Alberta’s energy and business leadership,” stated Ian MacGillivray, President and Co-Founder of ESS.
